ATV-UTV Recreation — St. Germain is now open to ATV and UTV enthusiasts. Ride the trails for miles throughout the connecting counties. The St. Germain ATV Club and the Lakeland ATV Club continue to work hard to keep these trails in the best riding conditions for you to enjoy. Deep in the woods is one of the best ways to see wildlife. Trails are open from May 1 to October 31.

ATVers and UTVers are relatively new visitors to Vilas County, but four-wheel enthusiasts will find great riding in Vilas County. Current routes developed by area ATV clubs connect the communities of Eagle River, Conover, Phelps, Land O’ Lakes, St. Germain and Arbor Vitae. Riders can cover a variety of terrain, from paved roads to dirt routes on former fire roads. Vilas County’s ATV/UTV route system also connect to routes and trails in neighboring areas. Please stay on marked routes and obey posted speed limits.

Plenty of great riding can be found just a short trip away in Oneida, Iron and Florence Counties. ATV trails can also be found throughout the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest.

Recreational Safety Education Classes are now being offered by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. Check out the ATV, boating, hunting and snowmobile safety classes being offered in the area.
