Bo-Boen Snowmobile ClubSt. Germain is well known for its fine network of snowmobile trails. Our local club, the St. Germain Bo-Boen Snowmobile Club (pronounced bō-bō-in) has developed a well-marked trail system that utilizes engineered grooming equipment and procedures that are copied nationally and internationally. We are the largest club in the state with over 450 memberships. We are united with the state association, AWSC, to protect the future of snowmobiling through legislative initiatives. Living History Encounter, Inc.Understanding our heritage ... and learning from the past. The purpose of the Living History Encounter Inc. is to present historical information about the European and Native American peoples who lived in the Great Lakes region during the time period of 1600 through 1840, referred to as the Fur Trader Era. The Living History Encounter Inc. is registered as a 501 3c non-profit organization. St. Germain ATV ClubThe St. Germain ATV Club incorporated within the state of Wisconsin in 2003. Our club mission is to promote safe and responsible trail riding with a focus on trail development and maintenance in Vilas County, and to connect with the surrounding trail systems. The St. Germain ATV Club, Inc. holds monthly meetings the first Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM, at various locations throughout the season. Our membership is approximately 40 families and growing rapidly. In addition to teaching ATV safety courses we have numerous fund raisers to support safe and responsible trail riding, and every year we make donations to local charitable organizations. St. Germain Elementary SchoolThe Northland Pines School District is located in northern Wisconsin and includes the townships of Cloverland, Conover, Eagle River, Land o' Lakes, Plum Lake, St. Germain and Washington in Vilas County and also a small portion of Newbold in Oneida County. St. Germain Firefighters AuxiliaryThe Firefighters Auxiliary has been running the town's flea market since 2003 as a fundraising event for the town's volunteer fire department. Funds raised have gone to purchasing new equipment for the fire department. The flea market has grown to be the largest weekly flea market in the area with an average 325 spaces filled weekly. St. Germain Volunteer Fire & Rescue DepartmentOur professional, volunteer firefighters provide 24 hour-a-day fire and medical response to St. Germain and surrounding areas. We also provide response to adjacent areas and operate within the county wide mutual aid program. Our firefighters are trained in the latest fire science and medical techniques and provide a number of services to the community including fire safety programs, educational programs at the schools, tours of the firehouse and public assistance during natural disasters. The St. Germain Fire Department provides emergency response services and life safety education programs to the citizens of St. Germain. This service is provided to approximately 1,200 year round residents and numerous visitors to the area. Emergency response services provided by the department include: fire suppression, emergency medical services, hazardous materials response, technical rescue response, as well as wildland fire suppression.
